A Winter Wedding

This weekend was spent celebrating as 2 of my lovely friends got married, the wedding was on Friday and it was a perfect, crisp, fresh (incredibly cold) winters day.
My previous wedding guest/bridesmaid experience has always been from Summer weddings so it made a welcome change to attend a wedding this end of the year!

Obviously the outfit has been the bain of mine and my friends lives in the weeks leading up to the wedding, naturally for us fashion obsessed creatures all the talk focused on was
what is everyone wearing!  I, like many others left my outfit to the last minute, thankfully a dash visit to Urban Outfitters was a winning visit as I happily stumbled across a lovely navy blue dress.  I am currently Navy’s biggest fan, it’s dark like black but no where near as harsh –it’s definitely a more flattering shade for my blonde hair, blue eyes and pale complexion so I was over the moon to see this classic, silky number hidden at the back of a rail with a tempting £15 off sticker.   I styled the dress with an old vintage jacket, a faux fur stole from Dorothy Perkins and my chunky shoe boots - I was good to go, strangely with enough time to spare to snap these outfit shots.

The wedding was breathtaking, we all had such a good time so much so I was in bed out cold at 12 o clock that night waking up at 3am suffering the beginnings of a hangover.  Needless to say the Saturday wasn't much fun for me, the journey home was painful as hangovers and travel just do not go do they.

Monday Musing

This weeks form of fashion inspo comes in the shape of this seasons most appropriate outerwear, faux fur coats.  I cannot get enough of the fluffy loveliness and am actually on the hunt (shock) for a classic, black faux fur coat, although I am thinking I should hold out and wait until the January sales though as any spare dollar I currently have needs to go on Christmas presents!

An unusual white shirt

This weekend was spent shopping, lunching and catching up with a lovely friend who travelled up to London to stay with me.  Friday night we mooched round Westfield and filled our bellies with ribs and chips, Saturday we mentally braved Oxford Street and then spent the evening in my local chatting over wine eventually ending the day with a domino's in bed!  Saturday we were on the hunt for an outfit as we have a winter wedding to attend next week thankfully Monki and Urban Outfitters provided me with the perfect look, I went for Navy and metallics just the right colour palette for a Christmas wedding I think!

This was my Saturday shopping outfit, the shirt has been sitting in my wardrobe shamefully for a couple of years unworn and unloved, bought from a charity shop I was not sure on it as every time I put it on I felt like I resembled a chef.  However this weekend styled with a smart coat and ripped jeans it wasn't so chef-like, the gold detail is so intricate and makes a plain white shirt that little bit special.

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend, have any of you guys been to a Winter wedding before?

A prosecco fuelled #OOTD

I am thinking about adding a lifestyle aspect to my blog, I love reading these types of posts myself and reckon its about time I got a bit more personal with you guys!
Last weekend I went back home to visit friends and family for birthdays and baby shower fun, this would have been a great weekend to have captured some lifestyle shots but in true me style I forgot and got drunk instead.  My friends are like no other and a lovely baby shower turned a bit raucous for a Saturday afternoon - think prosecco, dancing around the living room to Christmas songs and 9 drunk girls all before 3pm (obvs not the baby mama).   A couple of bottles later I realised I had not shot my outfit of the day so managed to drag my good friend Heather outside to get a few prosecco fuelled shots.

Monday Musing

Christmas is my favourite time of year, as soon as the air turns crisp and Christmas markets start arriving I feel the need to purchase cinnamon spice fragrance candles and hang fairy lights everywhere. I love the Christmas day build up, the advent calenders, present buying and clearing a space in the lounge for the Christmas tree - yep I am a big fan.
Come December 23rd I am heading home for Christmas and have already started planning lots of fun with friends and family, roll on the cheese boards and festive boozing.

I am big on making homes feel festive over the Christmas period, a bit of tinsel here and a reindeer ornament there, living with 5 people I am sure we will all chip in to add a special Christmas touch to our home. However if I were to have a little place of my own I would certainly be decorating it similar to the Christmas inspiration below...

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and are getting in the festive spirit.
Are you guys all ready for Christmas?

Swing dresses and denim

My second look from Stylistpick is this classic swing dress styled with a thrifted denim shirt and a bowler hat, it's a pretty casual look except for the chunky heels which add a nighttime vibe - best of both worlds!  The dress has quite a luxurious feel to it and looks pretty cool when I do a little spin, bring on my next night out where I can swirl my way to the bar.
The doub chin action happening in the first pic has put me off my nutella and toast, I am asking myself how easy would it be to diet in December?  Not very I imagine, ahhh sod it get me to the Winter Wonderland beer tent.

What do you think of the casual and dressy combination?  How would you style a simple black dress?

The Red Coat

Following my recent wishlist with some of my favourite picks from the Stylistpick I thought I would show you how I would style up 3 of my top picks.  This red coat and chunky boot combo being the first one - the coat was not as thick as I imagined, more like a heavy weight, long line blazer.  There are no buttons and it fits quite snugly but the length and colour are perfect, I would possibly go a size bigger than you normally are for a better fit.  I love the boots, they are so comfy and I know already I will wear them with everything.

This lost the plot graffiti had to have a little feature on the blog, very apt to me as some days I can honestly swear I really have lost the bloody plot!

What do you think of the red coat, how would you style a statement coat?

Wednesday Wants

This week I am working with Stylistpick to show you my favourite pieces from their website. They recently sent me this checked cardigan and since then I have been adding lots more of their items to my wishlist (which is getting out of control by the way).
It all started with a gorgeous red wool coat, I loved it as soon as I saw it and wanted to show you all what I would style it with.
Keeping it classic with shapes and colours, no prints, only staples as I am still building my capsule wardrobe, what do you think of my selection?

Grey Days

Right kids, I have got another charity shop extravaganza to show you all and it comes in the form of this grey wrap round jacket.  I feel like I was born to be a thrift shopper, I swear the bargains hunt me out because this was a complete steal at £15.
The length, belt detail and colour could not be more now, it always gives me such a buzz to be on trend at a fraction of the price.

This weekend has bought my first Liberty experience, I have always wanted to visit this famous department store and it certainly did not disappoint.  I ooohhh'ed and ahhhh'ed at some of the unique jewellery pieces and niche make up brands, some of which I have never heard of before.  I spritzed away in the perfume floor spraying fragrances that I have definitely not seen in the likes of boots, my new grey coat now smells completely divine with a luxurious mixture of citrus and patchouli. I bought a couple of special presents for some friends and family and can say that I am now officially in the festive spirit after visiting their Christmas shop.
I can safely say that Liberty is definitely my new favourite store.

Monday Musings

A suit, yes I want a suit.
I have wanted the perfectly tailored suit for quite some time now but the right event or trouser & blazer combo hasn't cropped up yet. Pinterest gives me plenty of inspo for the outfit I am after so thought I would share my finds with you.

Checked Cardigan

When I choose this cardigan from the lovely guys over at Stylistpick I thought it was black and white, when it arrived I realised the squares were in fact brown which in the end I actually preferred.  I am a big monochrome fan so it was a nice change to add a new colour mix to the wardrobe.  The best bit about this cardigan is the pockets, I do love a pocket.  I can see myself wearing this again with a crisp white shirt, boyfriend jeans and trainers - slouching around town with my hands in my pockets.

Tonight I am off out for 2 of my housemates birthdays so I can already guarantee tomorrow is going to be a write off, the only trip to be made will be a struggle walk to Macdonalds.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
